Girl's Camp

So, I'm a little behind on blogging this summer, but I just uploaded all of the photos off of camera, so I thought a little catch-up might be in order. In June, our girls went to girl's camp. This year, they went to a state beach in Malibu to camp. I went up for the final campfire and tin-foil dinners on Friday night. Yum! All of the girls pictures in the photos below are in the Young Women's organization I work in at Church on Sunday and every Wednesday night.

Food...Glorious Food

So, I've had food on the mind a lot this week--probably because I've started back on Weight Watchers and am determined to take off some of these stress-induced/work-related pounds. I'm trying to get creative with my use of vegetables because that's one of the only ways to increase what I can eat--vegetables are free in points and they are good for you.

One of my favorite dinners (although, it's so many vegetables that I can only eat it once or twice a week) is this one...it's sliced vegetables...one potato, a couple of zucchini, a bell pepper, and a purple onion with a little bit of olive oil, salt, garlic, and pepper. Bake at 425 degrees until you think it's done. Mmmmm.....


I'm also excited about this new recipe for bread and butter pickles. We canned them last night at Young Women's. I'm not a bread and butter pickle fan, but with the bell peppers and onions, these are crunchy and quite tasty!

These are for Eric and Sheree who aren't able to be with us for 4th of July weekend here in Modesto. "The Place" is starting to look like a house and like at some point Mom and Dad might be able to move in. Looks like we'll actually have enough space for everyone at Christmas this year. ;)

Jack Has a Little Sister

She's finally here! My neice Kate Elizabeth Rowe was born on Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at 6:30 a.m. She weighed in at 8 lbs. 1 oz. and 20 inches long. It's hard to believe we actually got a girl! Let's hope she's not the only one! I will get to see her when I'm home for the 4th of July. Can't wait!!!

A Good Laugh!

Last weekend, I spent the weekend preparing my house for being tented for termites (I have new landlords who are moving in upstairs). Then, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, the house was tented. I got back in Wednesday afternoon and have been cleaning and doing laundry since then. Of course, I also worked all week, too. Needless to say, by the time last night rolled around, I was coming down with a cold and was exhausted. But, about 6 p.m., my friend Barbara called and we headed out to see The Proposal with Sandra Bullock. It was hysterical! I laughed out loud throughout the movie...and chuckled at many places in between. And, I wasn't the only one in the theater laughing either.

The Bum Scoot

So, I cannot figure out how to tip this video so that it is the correct direction...but, this is one of the cutest things ever. Tyler can crawl, but he prefers to scoot on his bum. I'm guessing it's because he can see better that way. And, it's also a very efficient way to get around because he's really fast at it!

Be Patient...

It takes about 60 pages or so to figure out what is going on and decide you want to keep reading this book; after that, it's just about as hard to put down as one of the Twilight books.  No doubt, it's a VERY different story than any of the books in the Twilight series; but, I've decided Stephenie Meyer is just a good writer/story teller.  I like her stuff.  Now if only we could get her to publish something else.  It's summer and I'm ready for more.
