Dancing Queen...

I LOVED Mamma Mia on stage; so, I went to the movie with low expectations, expecting to be disappointed by the singing voices of the cast. However, I was pleasantly surprised! While Pierce left something to be desired, Stellen Skarsgard was phenomenal as Sophie. Stellen and Meryl Streep were well-cast as mother and daughter. And, Christine Baranski and Julie Walters could not have been better cast as Meryl's sidekicks! Definitely a fun flick and well worth the $14 for someone who loves a good musical and the tunes of ABBA!
Good Luck Jared!

This week, across the nation, thousands of people will sit for the dreaded Bar Exam in on of the 50 states, D.C. or Puerto Rico. The California Bar is one of the toughest in the country with three days of grueling questions (multiple choice, essay, and practical) designed to make you feel like you didn't learn a think in law school and/or during the all-too-expense, but essential, Bar prep class that you have just spent every waking moment (and then some) of your summer completing.
I still have post-traumatic stress disorder related to my own Bar exam experience. I'm eternally grateful that I passed the first time around! The Bar exam is something I never intend to take again--EVER!!! If I'm ever forced to leave the State of California, it will have to be to a state that will allow me to waive in, I'll need to pick a different profession, or I just won't work. ;)
My brother Jared takes the Bar this week in California. He's smart, has prepared well, and has all of those feelings of inadequate preparation that I remember all too well despite the fact that I took the exam 5 years ago! Good luck Jared! I know you will be blessed to remember the things you have studied (and even some of the ones you didn't/don't think you did). Remember to take a deep breath and give it everything you've got...and, if your first essay question is something you have no idea how to answer (perhaps remedies in trust like my first essay question), take a trip to bathroom, clear your head, and come back and write...it will be there!
Love you!

Cast Your Vote...

At work, we had photos taken yesterday for posting on the F3 website (you know for the photo next to the bio). Today we were emailed our set of photos and asked to pick which one we like best for posting on the F3 website. So, before I turn in my choice, let me know which one you think I should pick. NOTE--things like bags under the eyes will be retouched and taken out after we make our choice. These are untouched photos.

Twilight Obsession

Yes...after resisting the frenzy, I finally gave in. While I was in D.C., I read the first 3 books in the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer. I really didn't want to like these books, but once I got started, I couldn't put them down. They are as well written and all-consuming as the Harry Potter series. And, it was fun to read them all in sequence that quickly...August 2 and Book 4 cannot get here quickly enough! (I may even go to the midnight release to pick up my copy.)
However, December 12,2008, can stay far, far, far away. Other than James, Victoria, and Laurant, the Twilight characters...Bella, Edward, Carlisle, Esme, Emmett, Rosalie, Alice, and Jasper...have been totally mis-cast for Twilight the movie. James and Laurant are fine...nothing expected or unexpected. Victoria is also fine, but her hair is anything but the red color of fire that was in strong contrast to her pale, stony skin...anyone heard of red hair dye or a red wig? This is a 37 million dollar movie...why couldn't the hair designer have a few bucks to make the character fit the description in the book? But, most importantly, Edward is anything but the Greek god model that is described in the book. And, James is more fit than Edward--did the casting director read the same book I did? (In an online interview, the guy playing Edward actually admitted that while the casting call required a six-pack, he does not have one and did not train sufficiently to get one prior to the movie.) I don't care how well they adapted the book for the script, if they cannot get the casting right, what's the point???? A book this well-written deserves more from the movie! Needless to say, I'm not going to run out an buy tickets for the midnight showing of this one, and may not see it at all. This is a part of the frenzy I will not join!

I Love Being an Aunt!!!!

...except for the fact that I don't live in the same city as any of my three nephews. I've just spent the last week in D.C. visiting the youngest of them--Tyler--he's 6 weeks old. It has been so much fun to be here. I've been able to spend lots of play and cuddle time with him--esp. in the mornings while his mommy takes an extra nap. It's been the perfect vacation...no pressure to site see (this isn't my 1st trip to D.C.)...no time tables...just a lot of good quality baby, family, and reading time. It's gonna be so tough to get on that plane this afternoon to return to LA and work!
The World of Blogging
So...the pressure was too much to handle. I felt guilty logging on every day to look at the blogs of all of my family and friends, so here I am...
