Update on the Family

My cousin Sarah Stevenson (my mom's niece) got married last Saturday in Oakland. I flew in on Friday night; rented a car; drove to San Jose and hung out with Bryan, Melissa, and Aiden; headed to the wedding (at the Oakland LDS Temple) and the reception (at the Claremont Country Club); and, tried not to melt in between. I flew out Saturday evening--24 hours after arriving. It was SO MUCH FUN to see my nephews Jack and Aiden and to see baby Kate again; but it was SO HOT that weekend. I thought I was going to melt! Here are some fun pictures of the fam...

Jack and Aiden...these boys really are sooo much fun! They are that that age where they are really starting to enjoy playing with each other. And, they are learning to share.

This is Aiden and his parents Bryan (my brother) and Melissa. They have a new baby boy due the end of September.

At one point I thought he might go in head first...he got wet...but, thankfully did not go in all the way.

We tried to get a family photo of Jared's family. Here are Cindy, Kate, Jack, and Jared...obviously, Jack had a hard time just smiling and not being silly. He was pretty darned funny!

And, last, but not least...here are Nana and Papa with baby Kate. She's starting to smile...and, looks an awful lot like Jack!

From One Bowl to Another...

My friend Barbara has season box tickets. She was kind enough to take me with her to the Gin Blossoms concert on August 16th...talk about a blast from the past! Thanks Barb!

Hollywood Bowl

This summer, I've made my way to 3 concerts at the Hollywood Bowl. All 3 have been with the Los Angeles Philharmonic. The first was with my ward and the young women I work with; the second was with a group of friends; and, the third was with two of the young women who are cellists--we went to see Yo-Yo Ma. He was AMAZING!

Fourth of July in Modesto

I already posted photos of the place from my trip home over the 4th of July, but I also got to meet Kate on this trip and to play with Jack and Aiden. It was a lot of fun and hard to drive home at the end of the trip!

Girl's Camp

So, I'm a little behind on blogging this summer, but I just uploaded all of the photos off of camera, so I thought a little catch-up might be in order. In June, our girls went to girl's camp. This year, they went to a state beach in Malibu to camp. I went up for the final campfire and tin-foil dinners on Friday night. Yum! All of the girls pictures in the photos below are in the Young Women's organization I work in at Church on Sunday and every Wednesday night.

Food...Glorious Food

So, I've had food on the mind a lot this week--probably because I've started back on Weight Watchers and am determined to take off some of these stress-induced/work-related pounds. I'm trying to get creative with my use of vegetables because that's one of the only ways to increase what I can eat--vegetables are free in points and they are good for you.

One of my favorite dinners (although, it's so many vegetables that I can only eat it once or twice a week) is this one...it's sliced vegetables...one potato, a couple of zucchini, a bell pepper, and a purple onion with a little bit of olive oil, salt, garlic, and pepper. Bake at 425 degrees until you think it's done. Mmmmm.....


I'm also excited about this new recipe for bread and butter pickles. We canned them last night at Young Women's. I'm not a bread and butter pickle fan, but with the bell peppers and onions, these are crunchy and quite tasty!
